Aerodynamically Improbable Statement of Truth

I was in the office
and there was this bee —

a great hairy fat fucker of a thing;
frantically buzzing
over and over
around our heads.

Some lost bumble bee
blown in from the world of fresh air
sunlight, flowers, springtime
and lazy days of idle thought

it circled the room
in endless, tortured flight
through stale air
and neon blank dreams

slamming its head
in frantic insect desperation
against the incomprehensible barrier
of dusty plate glass

constrained by forces
it could not understand
doomed to fall, exhausted
into death

I know just how
the bee felt.
